According the the webster dictionary a vaccine is......a preparation of killed microorganisms, living attenuated organisms, or living fully virulent organisms that is administered to produce or artificially increase immunity to a particular disease. So in easier terms, a weakened version of the virus to help your immune system prepare for the real virus.

Who should get vaccinated?
The vaccine will be most effective for younger children (11- 12 years old). HPV vaccines are also recommended for teen boys and girls who did not get the vaccine when they were younger. Teen girls and young women until the age of 26, as well as teen boys and young men until the age of 21. The vaccine is also highly recommended for gay and bisexual men. It is also recommended for men and women with compromised immune systems (including people with HIV/AIDS) through age 26, if they did not get vaccinated at a younger age.
